Sergeant Major (SGM) Lauren T.S. Flores is a native of New Jersey/Pennsylvania and entered military service in the United States Army from Philadelphia as a Mortuary Affairs Specialist in 2006. Upon graduation from Mortuary Affairs Specialist Advanced Individualized Training in 2007, she was assigned to 111th Quartermaster Company (MA), 530th Combat Sustainment and Support Battalion, 49th Group at Fort Lee, Virginia. Her positions included Mortuary Affairs Sergeant (Squad Leader), Armed Forces Medical Examiner Autopsy/Embalming technician, and Assistant NCOIC (forward) of Baghdad International Airport Mortuary Affairs Collection Point in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF). After completing Warrior Leaders Course on the Commandant’s List, she was assigned to the Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii in 2010. Her positions included Recovery NCO and Team Sergeant for 12 recovery missions to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, the Republic of Korea, the Kingdom of Cambodia, and Germany. Following her graduation from Advanced Leaders course as the Distinguished Honor Graduate, she was selected by the Department of the Army as an AIT Platoon Sergeant in 2013. She served as an AIT Platoon Sergeant and Senior AIT Platoon Sergeant in both Uniform and Charlie Companies in the 262nd Quartermaster Battalion, 23rd Quartermaster Brigade in Fort Lee (now Fort Gregg-Adams), Virgina.

She graduated Senior Leader’s Course in 2016 as the Distinguished Honor Graduate and was assigned to Signal, Intelligence, and Sustainment Company, Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion, 25th Infantry Division in Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. She served as the Senior Mortuary Affairs NCO for 25th Infantry Division and the G4 Platoon Sergeant. She served in that position from 2016 to 2018 and following her graduation from Master Leader’s Course on the Commandant’s List was reassigned to the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency in Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii as the Worldwide Operations Center NCOIC.

After being promoted to MSG on June 1, 2019, MSG Flores was assigned as the First Sergeant of the 111th Quartermaster Company (MA), 10th Transportation Battalion, 7th Transportation Brigade Expeditionary in Fort Lee (now Fort Gregg-Adams), Virginia.

SGM Flores is a Commandant’s List graduate of the Sergeant’s Major Academy Class 73. After graduating the Sergeant’s Major Academy, SGM Flores was assigned to the 23rd Quartermaster Brigade, Fort Gregg-Adams, Virginia as the Operations Sergeant Major in August 2023. In April 2024, SGM Flores was assigned to the Army Sustainment University, Logistics Noncommissioned Officer Academy at Fort Gregg-Adams, Virginia as the Assistant Commandant, where she currently serves.

SGM Flores’ military education includes the Mortuary Affairs Specialist Course, Basic Leader Course, Equal Opportunity Leaders Course, Advanced Leaders Course, AIT Platoon Sergeant Course, Master Resilience Training Course, SHARP Certification Course, Unit Prevention Leader Course, Senior Leader Course, Master Leader Course, and the Sergeant’s Major Academy.

She is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University (2003) earning a Bachelor’s of the Arts in Anthropology and Natural Science, the Command and General Staff College (2023) earning a Bachelor’s of the Arts in Leadership and Workplace Development, and the University of Texas-El Paso (2023) earning a Master’s of the Arts in Leadership Studies with a concentration in Community Engagement.

Her awards and decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal (3rd Award), the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Army Commendation Medal (3rd Award), the Joint Service Achievement Medal, the Army Achievement Medal (4th Award), the Joint Meritorious Unit Citation, the Army Good Conduct Medal (5th Award), the National Defense Service Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Non-commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (5th Award), the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Ribbon (3rd Award) and the Driver Mechanic Badge.
